Healing is in the Air
A hyperbaric chamber is a soft inflatable tube that looks somewhat like a miniature bounce house. It helps patients breathe 100%-pure oxygen at a higher-than-normal pressure, which aids in fighting bacteria and encouraging the release of stem cells and growth factors. If you want to achieve faster healing, Face Forward’s state-of-the-art hyperbaric chamber in Houston may be just what you’ve been looking for.
Your Body in Balance
Oxygen is a crucial factor in the healing of injured body tissues. Hyperbaric chamber therapy—also known as hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT)—helps patients breathe in oxygen at high pressure. This boosts the body’s natural healing processes. The air pressure inside a hyperbaric oxygen chamber is 1.6 times higher than the air pressure that we normally breathe. This helps the lungs receive more oxygen. More oxygen gets into the blood, and this helps fight infection and stimulates wound healing.
At Face Forward Houston, we put your health and wellness first. With our hyperbaric oxygen chamber, we can help to boost your healing process and promote your overall well-being. Our nurse practitioners provide the kind of care you’d expect from Texans. We want to ensure you feel comfortable and see the best results from any treatment we offer.

What Is Hyperbaric Chamber Therapy Like?
Wear shoes that you can easily remove and put back on. The chamber has a soft mattress and pillow enclosed in a tube. Once you’ve removed your shoes, you will be asked to lie down in the hyperbaric chamber. The chamber will be sealed, and the pressure will slowly increase over 15 minutes. You may feel your ears popping at first, similar to taking off in an airplane. The length of the therapy and the number of sessions will be determined based on your treatment goals. Most people take 60-minute dives, but 90 minutes is also an option. While in the tube, you can take a nap, read a book or magazine, or scroll through social media on your phone. Note that the airflow is generally too loud to talk on the phone, but it is safe to text, use social media, and email during a session.
Relax and Let the Healing Begin
Hyperbaric chamber therapy requires no downtime or recovery time, and patients can immediately return to their everyday activities. It’s normal to temporarily feel a bit more tired or hungry than usual after your treatment.
No, you may not bring any food or drinks into the chamber. As you will be laying down, there is an increased risk of choking on anything you ingest while in this position. Furthermore, reducing the likelihood of spills or crumbs helps us keep the chamber clean for your next visit.
It is too loud to talk or listen to anything on your phone, but you can text, email, or scroll through social media. In fact, we ask that you do take your phone into the chamber in order to call us if you need any assistance.
Yes, you may wear any clothing you feel comfortable in. We do ask that you remove your shoes prior to getting into the chamber to help keep it clean.
